鐵藝從制作工藝上一般可以分為鑄鐵和鍛打兩種。

鍛打鐵藝是用專用的鐵藝材料制作而成。鍛打鐵藝制品從風(fēng)格上來分辨的話，又可以分為古典型與現(xiàn)代型。

古典型一般采用較為粗厚的原材料，并配以較復(fù)雜的圖案，顏色也大多會采用仿古色，相對來說，古典型的鐵藝制品是屬于柔美型的。
Classical iron products generally use thicker raw materials and are accompanied by more complex patterns, and the colors are mostly antique. Relatively speaking, classical iron products belong to the soft and beautiful type.

而現(xiàn)代型的就較為簡單了，采用的材料一般會選擇比較些小的方管，現(xiàn)代型的鐵藝制品主要是體現(xiàn)出精簡，但也并不缺乏現(xiàn)代美，注意打造出來的是一種簡單但不簡約，時尚但不奢華的風(fēng)格，更符合現(xiàn)代人的審美格調(diào)。

鐵藝大門從結(jié)構(gòu)上區(qū)分的話就分為兩種：

欄桿通透型，主要做法為以尺寸較大的方管做大門的框架， 然后使用鐵藝配件直接在框架中拼接鑲嵌。這種通透型的鐵藝大門的性能更加傾向于美觀，而且材料使用量比較少，適合做尺寸比較大的門，比如小區(qū)大門，別墅花園門等。
